We have 7 trustees who bring a wealth of experience and passion:

Major General Peter Currie was born and brought up in Tanzania before finishing his education in the UK and joining the Army, where he served in many different places including Northern Ireland, the Falklands and Bosnia. After leaving the Army he went into business for a few years before becoming Lieutenant Governor (CEO) of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. He is now Chairman of two mental health charities, the FCT and Icarus. He was also chairman of Combat Stress. His interests include tennis, skiing, opera, jazz, walking in wild places and trying to keep up with his grandchildren in all sorts of ways

Robert Montagu trained as a family therapist at the KCC in London and subsequently worked for the NHS child and adolescent teams in Hertfordshire and London. He started in private practice in Dorset in 2006 and launched the Dorset Child and Family Counselling Trust at that time, which has now become the FCT. Robert is also a novelist and has published on the subject of family therapy and the use of the Problem Pizza in helping children to
identify their difficulties.

Peter has been Treasurer of FCT since 2017. He had a long career in the City from which he retired in 2014 after which he served as a District Councillor for West Dorset until 2019 as well as continuing to hold other posts in finance. He is married with four children and has a small farm in the county.

Alison is a retired consultant child & adolescent psychiatrist who brings her wealth of clinical experience to FCT. She had a long career in the NHS in Wiltshire and Hampshire CAMHS.
Now retired, she is an aspiring artist, currently studying a Diploma in art. She also enjoys dance, playing piano and Pilates. Having grown up in East Africa, Alison has a keen sense of adventure and since retiring has travelled in Ethiopia, Kenya, Kashmir and Russia and can also be found roaming around the UK in her motorhome.

Emma is a mother of four who is passionate about improving children’s mental health and wellbeing. She was educated in London Queensgate and Courtauld and now works in contemporary art. Emma is also a keen horsewoman and loves riding horses in the Dorset countryside and enjoying music.

​Colin has worked in the Equality & Diversity team for the Department for Children, Schools and Families. He has worked in a number of different government departments for over 25 years, including the European Social Fund; the Small Business Advisory Service and Private Office for the Secretary of State for Employment at the time. Colin has over 20 years experience working with young people, has run a youth club and is a primary school governor. He currently sits on the boards of several different charities

Rosemary is a solicitor and partner in a well-regarded law firm in Dorset where she heads up the family law team. She brings to the board her extensive knowledge of family law together with her experience from a risk and governance perspective. Rosemary lives in the New Forest with her husband and young son and when she has time can be found reading or pottering in her garden.

Roz Miller BEM is our brilliant CEO who keeps the ship sailing smoothly! She is incredibly passionate about improving the wellbeing of children and families and this is reflected in her dedicated work. Roz's work with charities has been recognised by the Queen who awarded her a British Empire Medal (BEM) in 2018. She is constantly fundraising to ensure FCT can continue to deliver its vital service. Roz is a devoted Mum, loves dogs and when not working she can be found walking in the Dorset countryside.

Andrea West Operations Manager
Andrea has joined FCT with extensive experience of managing charities working with vulnerable families facing challenges with domestic abuse, physical and mental health. She is passionate about the role that the voluntary sector can play in supporting the wellbeing of children, young people and their whole family and is excited to be part of the fantastic work of FCT. Andrea is the Mum to two adult sons and in her spare time is an avid potter, and lover of the countryside around her home in Hampshire.

I joined FCT in May 2022 am enjoying my role as FLORA at FCT. I have lived on the south coast for nearly 20 years, I love living in an area with beautiful coastland and countryside, which are great for walking with my Springer Spaniel. I have worked in a variety of jobs from nursing to swimming teaching and most recently returned to education in 2020 to train as a counsellor. Alongside my FLORA role, I am a volunteer counsellor working with adults in 2 other charitable organisations. I am happy to help with any questions or concerns in the referral process.

As well as his FLORA role, James currently also works as a teaching assistant in a Special Educational Needs college. He has worked and volunteered for many charities over the years and is passionate about building relationships and helping people.
James is nearing the end of his training to qualify as a counsellor with the intention of studying further to become a psychotherapist. Having experienced his own challenges with mental health and how counselling and psychotherapy has helped, he is an advocate of talking therapy. When not working or studying he enjoys spending time in nature, playing music in his band and soaking in the tub.

Previous to FCT, Liz has spent 20 years working in Primary education as a teacher, then SENCO and safeguarding lead.
She has experience of being an Acting Head teacher, Governor of a Pupil Referral Unit and Supervision for staff.
Liz has completed her level 2 Counselling Skills qualification, as well as advocacy training and is passionate about supporting people in anyway she can.
Liz has received counselling in the past to help with her own relationships and mental health and has referred families to FCT in her professional capacity.
She is a mother of two boys and the owner of a Dachshund named Frank, all of which keep her on her toes.

Fiona is new to the FLORA role, bringing with her several years experience working with families and children in education, welfare and safeguarding.
She is passionate about young people’s mental health and early intervention in order to be able to help support as soon as possible. Fiona has a keen interest in counselling as she is training to be a counsellor and has also had counselling herself, and can therefore fully understand the benefits. She also volunteers for a charity working with young people in the area as part of her Level 5 qualification.
In her downtime Fiona likes going for walks with her family and going paddle boarding.

Liz lives in West Dorset having moved here in 2012 to manage the Family Support services across Weymouth, Portland and East Dorset. An experienced Operations Director for Children's Services she has worked for NHS, headed up Childline, managed various therapy and early intervention services for Action for Children and runs her own coaching practice locally and online. Liz has three children who are growing up too fast and strongly believes in supporting all of our children to have access to support when they need it most'

A retired teacher and lecturer of biology and psychology, Stephanie has over fifteen years of UK experience in the Third Sector as a trustee and chairman. She ran a not-for-profit in the USA when the only resources were a landline phone and a typewriter. In January 2023, she graduated from Hull University with a Master’s in Creative Writing, her fourth degree, and has written a novel. She is now ready for new challenges, and as a biopsychologist is interested in mental health issues. Born in Salisbury Stephanie is a true moonraker and now lives in the Wylye Valley where she is the Chair of a Health and Wellbeing Forum. She has two daughters and four grandsons aged fifteen to eight, whose activities include skiing, mountain biking, surfing, American football, and soccer. When not volunteering, Stephanie enjoys walking the family dog, weight training, playing bridge and travelling.
